Description:

This project-based guide from Adobe will teach readers all they need to know to create engaging interactive content with Flash CS3. Using step-by-step instructions with projects that build on the knowledge learned in each lesson, readers will learn the key elements of the Flash interface, including panels, timelines, and frames. From there, readers will learn how to work with vector and bitmap graphics; create and edit symbols; modify text and add interactivity with ActionScript 3.0; and incorporate animation, music, and sound to their projects. They'll also learn how to prepare and export their finished projects for Web and broadcast. Of course, readers will also learn how to take advantage of the new features of Flash CS3--the streamlined user interface, native support for Photoshop and Illustrator files, revamped drawing tools, new video encoding features, code editing enhancements, and much more. The companion CD provides users with all the sample files they need to complete all of the projects.

Educational instructor notes—created to help teachers plan, organize, and time their lessons—are available for this book (and for other Classroom in a Book titles) at www.peachpit.com/instructorresources.

1Not useful, waste of time and money.Aug 03, 2009
I bought this book because I appreciated a lot the series "classroom in a book" but this one is not useful because it doesn't explain anything, it says only "do this, then this, then this, then this" without explain WHY you're doing something and why you're using a tool instead another one.

It never describes the tools one by one, but it describes through mechanical steps how to complete the exercises (that anyway are too long).

This isnt the first book in the CLASSROOM series put out by ADOBE. I found it an excellent resource and learning tool. Following the step by step examples in this book I am able to get a great handle on this particular program. Unlike a lot of other reference books on various programs, this series isn't bother with a lot of usless technical jargon. Instead you are given the very basics of mastering the program. With the material in this book you are then given the confidence to be able to experiment and explore the further nuances of this program. I have recommended this series to all friends and colleages that have asked for help in their own learning process.

I love the "Classroom in a Book" series. I am a very visual person and I find the lessons very easy to follow and understand. Doing then as the lesson is being explained is very helpful.

4Why must you hate this book?Feb 14, 2009
Awww...! C'mon guys (to those who had slam adobe for this). Adobe has done better than those previous macromedia books (which is non-color and extremely boring). Don't you all read the 'additional resources' section? Well, READ IT!
Keep up the improvement Adobe. The Slammer is like a virus. 2-3 person give a negative review and then suddenly there a lot more followed. What the heck? To those want a long bla bla bla and then will never understand it, there's a lot more books out there you can purchase. Flash (and any kind of books related to computer skills) need 'practical'. As long as the explanation covers what those command do (in a simple way), that's enough.
